Happy Place: Happy Nouilles
/This is part of Happy Places, a series about making the time to have experiences that bring you joy, but can be hard to justify with a busy schedule.
I was having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. The kind of day where you feel overwhelmed and trapped and stressed. Unfortunately for my misery, it was a beautiful sunny day and any whining seemed self-indulgent. I decided to kick myself in the butt and use my lunch break to drown my sorrows in an enormous vat of Chinese noodles.
Happy Nouilles is a Chinese restaurant in the 3rd arrondissement that serves beautiful bowls of hand-pulled noodle soups. I always follow my friend Diane’s advice and get the Zati soup: a glorious combination of noodles, miso broth, ground pork, onions, cilantro, and spices.
It was such a nice day out that the seating overflowed into the street. The sunshine and the spice proved to be a lethal combination against my moodiness.
