Exhibition: The Parisianer
/If Paris had its own version of The New Yorker magazine, what would the covers look like?
This was the question that inspired a project where 100 artists made covers for an imaginary magazine called The Parisianer. Fifty of these illustrations are currently on display in the bite-sized exhibition at the Hôtel de Ville.
Like the covers of The New Yorker, the covers of The Parisianer range from sweet to silly to profound.
My personal favorite shows the contemporary artist Daniel Buren cutting his famous Palais-Royal columns from a striped tree.
Visitors can even ‘illustrate’ their own cover on paper provided at the end of the exhibition, and display it on the wall.
This gallery is part of a new space in the Hôtel de Ville called Paris Rendez-vous. In addition to the gallery space, it has information about the Ville de Paris via a table of tablets and an AMAZING store (the products can be found online here).
