Eyes in the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts

I was really excited about the butt tour.

Let me explain. The Montréal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) website promoted a guided tour called "Delightful Derrières", all about the nudes in the collection. It sounded wonderfully ridiculous; I mean, come on, this was the promotional image:

I waited at the appointed meeting place for the tour. And I waited. And waited. Nobody ever came, and the security guards didn't seem to know if a tour was happening.

Dismayed, I decided to make the best of the afternoon and wander through the nearby Modern Art galleries. As I examined the artworks, another body part stood out to me: eyes. Some were realistic, some were just a brushstroke, others were crazy scribbles. So, I went on an eye photo safari (a visit to a museum focusing on details found in artworks around various themes, with the aim of looking at everything differently).

Looking at the diverse treatment of eyes helped me compare the artists' different approaches to reality.
