The Best Burger in Paris

I realize this might be my most controversial post to date, but here goes.

There have been a lot of claims lately about the best burger in Paris, as the burger scene is exploding in the city. There are arguments for Blend, le Camion Qui Fume, Big Fernand, blah blah blah. The truth is, there is one clear winner that rises above the rest. 

And it doesn't even have a name.

It is the burger stand in the Marché des Enfants Rouges. Located towards the back of the historic covered marketplace in the Haut Marais, this operation has mastered the art of the burger. I am incapable of eating here without making loud noises of pleasure.

As my friend visiting from America said: "This has ruined every burger I will ever eat after this."

The buns is baked in front of you, the meat is farm-fresh, and you can pick one of five artisanal cheeses. My favorites are the tomme au cidre and the chèvre, which comes with arugula.

My boyfriend and I have gone here for burgers almost every weekend for a couple of months now. It's to the point where we exchange news and bisous with owner, who, when we miss a weekend, needs to make sure that it wasn't because there was a problem with her burgers.

Voilà, the best burger in Paris. Nay, the world.

(Though I have yet to try the burgers with ramen noodle buns in the tenth arrondissement...)

Address: 39 rue de Bretagne 75003 Paris  ∣  Métro: Temple (line 3), Filles du Calvaire (line 8) ∣ Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from noon to 3:30pm, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4pm (but try to come close to noon to avoid a wait)
