Ancient Egyptian Work in the Louvre
/This is part of Louvre Photo Safaris, a series that focuses on details found in Louvre artworks around various themes, with the aim of looking at everything differently.
I know very little about Ancient Egyptian art. So during a recent stroll through the Louvre's Egyptian Antiquities galleries, I needed help looking at the objects. One of the first artifacts that I was drawn to was the group of three workers in the above photograph; it utterly charmed me. I decided to walk through the galleries with an eye out for figures at work. This approach helped me look closely at the artworks, seeing details that I otherwise could have easily overlooked.
I defined 'work' very loosely. Servants laboring, scribes writing, priests praying, warriors fighting, figures walking: the galleries were full of people with jobs to be done.
