Exhibition: Henri Cartier-Bresson

The retrospective exhibition on Henri Cartier-Bresson at the Centre Pompidou is an ideal opportunity to spend an hour or so carefully looking at very beautiful images.

The exhibition space is sparse; plain walls are filled with small framed photographs.

The exhibition is an utter aesthetic pleasure. As I took in each photograph, I found myself getting lost in the perfectection of the compositions.

The benefit of the long lines to enter the exhibition is that it gives you time to read the biographical timeline on the wall outside the galleries. It presents a basic overview of the life and influences of this 20th century French photographer before you plunge into his images.

I would recommend visiting this exhibition only when you can dedicate a moment to truly taking your time with each image and forgetting the rest of the world.
